Pen to Purpose · Issue No. 1
To live in New York City is to live in a constant state of flux. This magazine was born from that belief: it matters to capture what it means to be alive in this moment.
The Story
Pen to Purpose began in Mexico City — two writers meeting at an art show in Roma Norte, both recently uprooted from Europe, both searching. Flor had come to lay her father's ashes to rest. Theo had come to read his poetry aloud for the first time. From that coincidence came a club, then a community, then a magazine.
Crossroads is Issue No. 1. Named for New York — the subway transfers, the borough lines, the quiet overlapping moments where ideas pass from one person to another. 15 contributors. 84 pages. Essays, poetry, photography, collage. Every piece lives somewhere between where the writer came from and where they're going.
"What began as a simple act of writing together became a place where grief, longing, curiosity, and creativity could coexist."
Only 75 copies were printed. This is not a reprint. When they're gone, they're gone.
15 contributors. Essays, poetry, photography, collage. Every piece lives at a crossroads.
The Launch
"To bring pen to purpose is a lifelong journey — to co-create is a direct disruption to a system that sold us hyper-individualism."
